Congratulations to Lady Antebellum and thank you to all the fans! "Just A Kiss," Lady A's first single off their forthcoming third studio album is No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking the highest debut for a country group in the chart's 52-year History.

Lady Antebellumlogs its highest debut among its 15 career entries on Billboard's Country Songs radio airplay chart, as"Just a Kiss" soars in at No. 28. The song opens with a first-week audience of 6 million on 85 stations, according to Nielsen BDS.
The group performed the song Thursday (May 5) on"American Idol." ("I sat inJennifer Lopez's judges chair last night at American Idol rehearsals. Technically our butt's have touched... just saying," KelleyTweetedThursday).
The ballad's bow marks the third-highest debut among groups since Country Songs adopted BDS-monitored data the week of Jan. 20, 1990.Rascal Flatts'"Take Me There" opened at No. 24 July 24, 2007, andSugarland's"All I Want to Do" launched at No. 27 June 7, 2008. Both tracks went on to top the tally ("Take" for three weeks and"All" for one frame).
Lady Antebellum - Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott - have notched six Country Songs top 10s, including four No. 1s, since its arrival the week of Oct. 20, 2007, with"Love Don't Live Here," which peaked at No. 3 in June 2008. The trio subsequently led with"I Run to You" (one week) and"Need You Now" (five weeks) in 2009 and"American Honey" and"Our Kind of Love" (two weeks each) in 2010.
"Need You Now" won four Grammy Awards in February, including record and song of the year.
"Kiss" previews the group's forthcoming third studio album.
"The day we wrote this song was one of those days that renewed my faith in the bond the three of us have as songwriters," says Kelley."It came so easily and it reminded me of the early days when we first started out, and we'd spend hours in my brotherJosh's house writing songs.
"Everyone keeps asking if we feel pressure after the success of'Need You Now' and we are trying to not even think about the new album or these songs in those terms. We are just writing about what we are going through in our lives and we hope that country music fans continue to connect with them."
In addition to its strong start on Country Songs,"Kiss" is expected to make lofty debuts on the Billboard Hot 100 and Digital Songs rankings when all charts are released Thursday (May 12) on Billboard.com.

Lady Antebellumreleased"Just a Kiss," the lead single for the follow-up to its hit sophomore album,"Need You Now," to radio and retailers on Monday (May 2). The slow, tender track, which is currently streaming on the group's publicitywebsite, finds the trio preaching the power of a simple goodnight kiss between a new couple.
"Just a kiss on your lips in the moonlight, just a touch in the fire burning so bright/And I don't want to mess this thing up, I don't want to push too far," Scott and Kelley harmonize on the chorus.
"We love writing songs from personal experience, and this is definitely one of those songs," explains Scott in a statement."There is so much excitement at the beginning of a new relationship…all the butterflies and that optimistic feeling that this person could be'the one.' This song is about one of those times when your brain kicks in and tells your heart'good things are worth waiting for.'"
Lady A's last lead single, the title track from 2010's"Need You Now," climbed to No. 2 on the Hot 100 last year and swept the record and song of the year categories at the Grammy Awards in February. The album has gone on to sell 3.4 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
While the group preps its third album for release later this year, Lady Antebellum will perform"Just a Kiss" for the first time on Thursday night's episode of"American Idol."
Lady Antebellumare hard at work on their follow-up to their multi-platinum-selling sophomore CD,'Need You Now.' The Grammy-winning trio wrote several songs for the upcoming project, including their new single,'Just a Kiss,' which made it onto the album in the proverbial 11th hour.

Dave Haywood adds that the male-female ratio in the group enhances their songwriting ability."One of the best things about writing for us is that we have the option to speak from both the man and woman's perspective because Charles and Hill can share lead vocals," says Dave."This is actually the very last song we wrote for the album. We were about six songs into recording and someone had this idea, so we sat down to write it. Then we took it to our producer Paul Worley, and a few days later we were recording it."
The trio willperformthe new song on'American Idol' this Thursday (May 5) on FOX. The group will have to finish the new album between dates on their concert schedule, including a show in New York next week and an appearance at Nashville'sCMA Music Festivalin June.
